Volunteer with the Covid-free Queens Coalition

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color and immigrant communities. While rates of infection have been highest in Corona, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Woodside - our neighbors in these communities have not been able to access vaccines at the same rates as other communities with more privilege and language access.

In response to this inequity, Malkhut has been invited to partner with a wonderful organization, Sunnyside Community Services, in their work with the COVID Free Queens Coalition.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Jackie Lopez at Sunnyside Community Services: email jackielopez@scsny.org or phone(929) 538-6569. Let her know that you are part of the Malkhut community!

There are a few ways you can get involved:

1. IN PERSON VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR DAY OF ACTION SATURDAY APRIL 24TH TRAVERS PARK JACKSON HEIGHTS 12-5PM: Hand out PPE and information about COVID testing and vaccinations.

2. ONGOING IN PERSON OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Volunteer once or twice per week with in-person outreach events, handing out PPE and information about COVID testing and vaccinations. These events occur on weekday afternoons and possibly some weekends in Corona, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Woodside. Spanish proficiency is a plus!
  • PPE packing at Sunnyside Community Services on the following days:

    Mon & Thurs: 10AM-2PM

    Tues & Wed: 9:00AM - 12:00PM

    Friday: 10AM-3PM

3. REMOTE VOLUNTEERING FROM YOUR HOME: Help make vaccine appointments for folks 65+. More information will be available in the next couple of weeks as soon as more 1st dose appointments are made available.
