Sharing the Light:

An Intergenerational Chanukah Gathering in Western Queens

On the first night of Chanukah

Date: Sunday, December 14, 2025

Time:  4 - 6pm

Location: Renew Queens large location in Long Island City (exact location shared after registration)

Join Malkhut and our collaborators from Adamah NY and PJ Library to celebrate the first night of Chanukah! We will visit activity stations to create block-printed wrapping paper and/or fabric while learning about the Jewish Youth Climate Movement, and craft Chanukah cards to send to local community members who may need a bit of light this season. Other station offerings will include an olive oil tasting while learning about oil through an environmental lens and learning about the challenges faced by Palestinian farmers in the West Bank as they harvest their olives.

This event includes activities for kids of all ages, including craft/activities for tweens and young children, as well as activities especially targeted to adults.

Food will be served! We will have latkes, donuts and more.  We’ll also light our chanukiot and sing Chanukah songs together!

Accessibility: This is a fully ADA accessible space. The bathrooms are single room/gender neutral and have wide doors with handles on the walls, and there is a changing table in the first bathroom.

COVID: Masks are optional, but encouraged and welcomed. You can read our COVID policy HERE.

Thank you to our Chanukah-planning circle: Jill Goldstein Smith, Rachel Knopf-Shey, Leah Reiss, Rabbi G., and Rebecca Forlenza

This event is supported by a grant from UJA-Federation of NY.
