Mitzvah Project
In early September of my 7th grade year I began my social justice project, collecting supplies for babies ages 5 and under to donate to migrants in Queens in need of supplies. I had noticed how when immigrants were coming to New York from Mexico and Central America that many of them had young children. I also realized that baby supplies are expensive, and many migrants are coming to the US with little to no money.
When I started collecting donations, my lovely mother would drive me to people's homes to pick up collections of diapers and formulas and what not. This whole process went on for about a year, and at the end I met up with a woman who collects donations to give to migrants, and teaches some migrants English, and gave her my collections. Through this project not only did I work hard, getting in touch with people organizing the donation delivery, I also learned satisfaction, especially satisfaction in helping others.
