A post Yom Kippur message from Rabbi G:
Dear Malkhutniks,
Yesterday as artist June Kosloff held space for some holy collage-making I was leafing through a zine she made and found this image and message that encapsulates how I was feeling this Yom Kippur: “the pain of everything makes the joy so big.”
From Kol Nidre night through the closing of the gates last night my heart was so broken and so full at the same time. This time of year’s sacred energy felt like it was truly coursing through our community this year. There were tears falling, children bouncing around, generations from young to elders courageously wrestling with what the old year has meant, and plunging into the unknown of a new year.
NONE of this would have been possible without every single one of you, on and off the bimah. I don’t know what I did to deserve the innumerable blessings of this community. Thank you to our entire Malkhut family: staff, volunteers, and everyone who brought their physical and virtual presence to these days. You are the ones that make it possible to feel the “big joy” amidst the “pain of everything.”
May we all be blessed to feel cleansed and strengthened as we step into the rest of this year.
With love,
Rabbi G.
We are close to our High Holy Day goal!
Malkhut strongly believes that our High Holy Days services should be open to all who wish to attend, sing, pray and be with community during this season, but this is only possible with your support.
